Here’s what to expect during your treatment
Consultation & Preparation – First, we conduct a skin analysis. We will hear about your concerns and devise a personalised plan that helps us meet your anti-aging treatment goals. The area will be cleaned, and we may take some photos.
Numbing – To help keep you comfortable, we use a topical numbing cream for 20-30 minutes. Almost all our clients report no more than mild discomfort.
Microneedling – Using a professional microneedling device, the practitioner will methodically treat the entire treatment area. The practitioner adjusts the needle depth as needed, based on your concerns. This process is collagen-induction therapy and is effective because it is very specific and precise in a controlled environment.
Serum Infusion – A personalised infusion of hyaluronic acid, growth factors, vitamins, and peptides is applied. The infusion products can penetrate deeply into your skin through the micro-channels.
Soothing – A calming mask or serum is applied to reduce any redness and help with the healing process. We will provide you with specific instructions for aftercare.
Treatment Time: 45-90 minutes, depending on treatment area
What Will I Feel? Most describe it as mild prickling or scratching. The addition of the numbing cream helps with your comfort.
Pre-Treatment Preparation
Adequate preparation allows for the best results and minimises potential complications.
2-4 Weeks Prior
DO: Start a good skincare regimen. A gentle cleanser, moisturiser, and SPF protect your skin. Hydration is important. Inform your practitioner regarding any and all medications you may be taking.
DON’T: Use Accutane (must stop 6 months in advance). Excessive sun exposure or aggressive treatments.
1 Week Prior
DON’T: Use retinoids or exfoliating acids (AHAs, BHAs) on or around the treatment area. Do not wax or thread the treatment area. Do not take any blood-thinning medications unless prescribed.
24 Hours Prior
DO: Arrive at the appointment with clean skin, and get proper sleep the night before. Stay hydrated.
DON’T: Get sunburned and/or have active breakouts.
Care Following Treatment
The first 48 to 72 hours after treatment are very important for the healing process, as well as achieving the best results.
The first 24 hours
Your skin will appear: Red and flushed (like a moderate sunburn), slightly swollen, warm, and tight.
DO: Leave the product that your practitioner applied to your skin. Sleep elevated. Drink plenty of water. Use ice packs as needed.
DON’T: Touch your face with unwashed hands. Apply any makeup or skincare. Wash your face for 8 to 12 hours. Exercise or experience sun exposure.
Days 1 to 3
You will see: Redness about to have subsided or will have subsided by day 2 to 3. Some tight, dry feeling. Light peeling or flaking may start.
DO: Use a gentle cleanser after 24 hours. Apply a hydrating moisturizer 2 to 3 times daily. Use SPF 30+ every 2 hours while outside. You can apply mineral makeup after 24 hours.
DON’T: Pick or scratch peeling skin. Use active ingredients such as retinol, vitamin C, and acids. Exercise heavily. Use hot water, a sauna, or go swimming.
Days 4 to 7
You will notice: Most redness has resolved. Peeling is resolved. Slight dryness. You will start to see your glow!
DO: Continue with the routine you started and daily SPF. You may begin introducing gentle activities (consult with your practitioner). Light exercise can be resumed.
Week 2 and beyond
DO: You may start your normal skincare regimen as directed by your practitioner. Continue daily SPF. Moisturise your skin. Follow the treatment schedule recommended by your practitioner.
DON’T: Never forget the sunscreen! Do not use any aggressive treatments between sessions without consulting your practitioner.
